EMC countermeasure products: TDK launches a new small common mode choke for automotive CAN-FD

  • 2021/04/06

  • Achieved good signal mode transfer characteristics

  • Compact structure, small size, can work in a wide temperature range of -40℃~+150℃

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) has developed the new ACT1210D series common mode choke coils for automotive CAN-FD, and will start mass production in April 2021.

Automotive local area network is roughly divided into the following four systems: body system, safety system, power system, multimedia/information and communication system. This product supports CAN and CAN-FD, and the data transmission speed is 5 times that of 5 Mbps. Currently, CAN is the most widely used standard for body and other systems, with a maximum data transfer speed of 1 Mbps.

While meeting CiA and IEC standards, the ACT1210D series common mode choke coils also have a compact low-profile size (3.2(L) x 2.5(W) x 2.5mm(H)) and have noise suppression capabilities. The unique structural design realizes the signal mode transmission characteristic (Ssd21) and improves the communication quality. The manufacturing process involves highly automated and extremely sophisticated wire winding machines and employs a wire connection method of laser welding metal terminals to achieve high reliability.

In recent years, there has been an increasing need to process high-speed, high-volume camera footage in ADAS. TDK offers a broad lineup of automotive communication products and 1000BASE-T1 Ethernet standard products that provide optimal performance for these applications. In the future, TDK will continue to meet the needs of customers by providing comprehensive product services of common mode choke coils for automotive communications.
