X5R dielectric provides ±15% capacitance stability over -55°C to +85°C, offering a cost-effective balance for general-purpose decoupling, filtering, and bypass applications. The 0402 (1005 metric) is a compact high-density SMD footprint, ideal for smartphones, wireless charging modules, WiFi/Bluetooth RF circuits, and IoT sensor modules. Commonly used in Consumer Electronics, Wireless Charging, Telecom Equipment. Typical end-products include Phone/Tablet Power Decoupling, Qi Wireless Charger TX/RX, WiFi/Bluetooth Module.

"Customer feedback from the wireless charging product segment: 0402 series MLCCs across 16V/25V/50V ratings are in consistent demand for Qi wireless charger transmitter and receiver modules. The 0402 footprint enables the high component density required in compact wireless charging pads, while the X5R/X7R dielectric provides the necessary capacitance stability under the varying thermal conditions of inductive power transfer."
C0G (NP0) is a Class 1 dielectric with ±30ppm/°C stability, zero DC bias effect, and DF under 0.1% — use it for resonant circuits, timing, and precision filters. X7R is a Class 2 dielectric with ±15% tolerance over -55°C to +125°C and moderate DC bias roll-off, ideal for decoupling, bypass, and general-purpose filtering. X5R offers higher capacitance density than X7R but only spans -55°C to +85°C. Y5V delivers the highest density but swings +22% to -82% across -30°C to +85°C and can lose 70-90% of its rated capacitance at operating voltage.
